Mike Mayock served as the general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders for three seasons. Prior to that, considered to be one of the most well-respected NFL draft experts in the field, he was an analyst on the NFL Network’s coverage of the NFL Draft and the NFL Scouting Combine. He currently serves as an analyst for Westwood One Radio.
Mayock’s extensive broadcasting career includes covering Notre Dame Football for NBC and serving as a college football analyst for ABC Sports, CBS Sports, and Fox Sports. Additionally, he reported on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for CBS and contributed to ESPN’s coverage of the Canadian Football League. His diverse experience also spans roles with Prime Network, NCAA Productions, Prime Sports Radio, and the Big East Conference.
Mayock was selected as the 2017 Jack Horrigan Award winner, which is given to the league or club official for his or her qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their job. Receiving the honor from the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA), Mayock was the 45th recipient of the award, making him just the seventh person who has worked for the NFL in some capacity to receive the honor.
During his playing career, Mayock was a 10th-round pick in the 1981 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He then played for the New York Giants for a year. He is a member of the Boston College Hall of Fame, where he starred in football and baseball and received a communications degree in 1981.
