Kyle Hendricks, originally from Mission Viejo, California, is the starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. Following his high school graduation, Kyle chose to attend Dartmouth College where he played baseball for the Big Green. He was selected by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Hendricks was later traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he was named their minor league pitcher of the year for 2013.
Hendricks made his major league debut with the Cubs in 2014, recording his first win against the San Diego Padres on July 22nd. By 2015, he was part of the Cubs starting rotation and helped the team make it to the National League Championship Series that year. Hendricks continued to step up as a key member of the organization, pitching seven great innings in Game 6 of the NLDS to send the Cubs to their first World Series since 1945. Hendricks started Games 3 and 7 of the 2016 World Series, leading the organization to their first championship in over 100 years.
Hendricks is known to be a reliable pitcher, determined player, and hardworking teammate. He continues to show up to the mound with a positive attitude and lead the Cubs to victory. Off the field, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife Emma and their son, who the couple welcomed in 2023.
