Justin Steele, native of Lucedale, Mississippi, is a Chicago Cubs starting pitcher. Right out of high school, Justin was drafted by the Cubs in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He worked his way up through Chicago’s farm system but suffered a season-ending injury in 2017, requiring Tommy John Surgery. Justin persevered in the face of adversity, bouncing back, and joining the Cubs 40-man roster after the 2018 season.

In April 2021, Justin had his first major league start against the Milwaukee Brewers, striking out the first batter he saw. Since his MLB debut with the Cubs, Justin has established himself as an integral part of the team. In 2023, Justin received his first All-Star selection, pitching on behalf of the National League in the 2023 All-Star Game in Seattle, Washington. After pitching for seven seasons in the minor leagues, Justin has grown to become one of the best starting pitchers in the MLB. His determination and drive to improve are a testament to his limitless potential and star-like quality.

Off the field, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Libby, and son Beau, with whom he shares a birthday. Justin is passionate about donating his time to the George County Baseball Program, which helped him to get where he is today, as well as being a great role model and father to his son.
