Jaylon Smith is a Pro Bowl linebacker who plays for the New Orleans Saints.
Smith attended Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a letterman in football, basketball and track. In football, he won the Butkus Award as a senior, given to the best high school linebacker in the country. Smith attended the University of Notre Dame where he won the Butkus Award, given annually to college football’s top linebacker. The Dallas Cowboys selected Smith 34th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. Smith was selected into the Pro Bowl in 2019 and was the Cowboys’ 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for his charitable efforts.
Off the field, Smith is the founder of the Minority Entrepreneurship Institute, a seed-stage impact investing fund that hosts annual pitch competitions for Black, LatinX, and female founders. They have invested over $1.2 million in minority-owned small businesses.
Giving back has always been a huge part of Jaylon’s life whether it has been through donating time, money, resources, or knowledge. Jaylon has traveled to South Africa multiple times to give back to the local community.
