Edwin ‘Sugar’ Diaz is a right-handed reliever, 2022 All-Star, and member of the New York Mets active roster. Drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 MLB Draft, Diaz was traded to the Mets after a successful final season with the Mariners, resulting in his first All-Star appearance and earning him the 2018 AL Reliever of the Year award. Having established himself as an integral seasoned member of the Mets, Diaz was named the 2022 National League Reliever of the Year and signed a five-year contract with the Mets worth $102 million, the most valuable contract ever signed by a relief pitcher at the time.
In the offseason, Diaz lives in Puerto Rico, where he organizes baseball clinics and hosts an annual drive for school supplies for kids in his local communities. When he’s not on the field, Edwin enjoys playing video games, rocking the latest fashion trends, and spending time with his family.
