Alex Caruso is an NBA champion and guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He previously played for the Chicago Bulls.
Caruso attended Texas A&M University, where he played basketball for four seasons and established himself as a strong defensive player and playmaker. He finished as the school’s all-time leader in assists and steals, and he led the Aggies to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. He also earned SEC All-Defensive Team and second-team All-SEC honors.
After going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Caruso played for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s summer league team before signing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017. He spent most of the 2017-2018 season playing for the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, before making his NBA debut in 2018.
Caruso quickly became a fan favorite for his gritty play, tenacious defense, and impressive athleticism. He also established himself as a reliable ball-handler and passer, earning a spot in the Lakers’ regular rotation. Caruso played a key role in the Lakers’ championship run in 2020, providing energy and solid play off the bench.
Caruso’s rise from undrafted rookie to NBA champion has made him a popular figure among basketball fans.
