We hosted the first Cambridge Half Marathon in 2012 with 3,000 athletes, over the following years the event grew in popularity due to its notoriety, for athlete experience and the electric race day atmosphere. We have grown increasingly conscious of the potential impact of sporting events. Through charitable partnerships and careful sustainable planning, we are extremely proud of the positive influence our event has both locally and nationally.
The results
The Cambridge Half Marathon is now seen as a ‘Bucket List’ event amongst the running community which is held in increasingly high regard. We have now grown the event to over 16,000 entrants which has sold out within 3 weeks of the general entry release.
We have made significant advances over recent years to reduce the event’s impact on the surrounding environment. After Lucion joined us as our Sustainability Partner we now have a focused ESG statement and clear goals, which we are achieving annually. Most notably in 2024, where we worked with several parties to ensure that no waste from the event went to landfill.
