Jorge Lopez is a relief pitcher for the New York Mets. Originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico, Jorge grew up playing baseball and was drafted out of Caguas Military Academy in 2011. He began his career with the Milwaukee Brewers, making his major league debut in September 2015.
Throughout his career thus far, Jorge has played for the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, and Miami Marlins. He made history with the Royals, becoming the first pitcher in the organization’s history to pitch a perfect game into the ninth inning. With the Orioles, Jorge excelled and was named the team’s lone All-Star in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game. In July of 2023, Jorge was traded mid-season to the Miami Marlins where he continued to bring a unique sense of excitement and energy to the game. In December of 2023, he signed with the Mets. Rarely seen without a smile on his face, Jorge reminds fans and viewers the joy that is playing professional sports.
