Prior to his broadcasting career, Butt was best known as perhaps the greatest tight end in Michigan history. Playing from 2013-16, Butt caught 138 passes for 1,646 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Wolverines. He was named the Big Ten tight end of the year in 2015 and 2016, a first-team All-American both seasons and won both the John Mackey Award, which is given to the top tight end in college football, and the Senior CLASS Award in 2016.
After enduring a torn ACL in the 2016 Orange Bowl, Butt was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Following four seasons with the Broncos, he retired from football during the 2021 NFL campaign after five seasons in the league.
Following his NFL career, Butt returned to Ann Arbor and began working with the Valiant group in helping Michigan athletes get paired with Name, Image and Likeness partners. He also expanded into the world of broadcasting, making appearances on TV, radio, and podcasts, including Mlive’s Wolverine Confidential.
